A little About Me
Wife, Mum, & Artist, winging it all simultaneously.
I'm Lauren DeGregorio, born and raised in England.
I had the wonderful opportunity of living in Geneva, Switzerland for 2 years where I learned so much about other cultures and the importance of having an open mind. I then moved to the States in September 2001 where I met my husband, started a family and settled in our forever home on Cape Cod.
I always enjoyed art growing up, but always thought of it as fun, and nothing serious. I was re-introduced to art as a way of Therapy in Mclean Hospital during one of my mental health breakdowns in 2009.
A few years ago I started painting faces, which then led to painting rocks; when looking for a way to seal the rocks, my husband introduced me to resin, and now I combine my love of acrylic paints with resin and other mixed media.
Why Oplaysis Designs?
As a long-time preschool teacher, and a "Life is Good" Certified Playmaker, I was always taught to create an "O'playsis" in the classroom - a safe, calm and comforting Oasis-type play space. My set up was a cozy colorful canvas tee-pee (that I won from Life is Good) decorated with sparkly lights and pillows.
Now that I am out of the education field, I still believe as an adult it is so important to create your own Oplaysis;
whether it be a reading nook, a zen-den, or a space that brings you peace and makes you happy.
It is my pleasure to create handcrafted art to bring joy to those spaces and spread awareness about Mental Health.
